Personal Interview (PAPI)

A PAPI survey is composed by many phases; let’s go to see them.

Sampling

It’s defined the universe that will be contacted (population or companies) in possess of information that will be collected by a questionnaire.

Once defined the universe we pass to define the method of sampling that guaranteed a sample representative of population, in other words able to supply an estimation of population’s opinions.

Sampling can be done following several modes:

E-mail publicizes: if respondent have an e-mail address, contact procedure include sending of survey presentation e-mail after ask to interviewed his e-mail address.

Random: a street and a street number are extracted: extracted family are our statistical unit.

In siti: where conduct the interview and method of interviewed choosing is defined.

Quotas: we fix a number of unit interviewed characterised by a specific attribute (for example n male and m female). The phase of contact go on until the quotas fixed is covered. Typically quotas respect population’s composition.

From the family to the person: if the sampling unit is represented by persons is necessary a method for a random selection of a family’s component:

- if there is only a component this will be interviewed;

- Known the number of male and the number of female, by a specific algorithm, will be choose an element of the family;

- Last birthday method: will be interviewed the person with date of birth nearer the day of inteview.
